Black Spend Initiative
Why is capturing Black Spend important?
A dollar spends 28 days circulating in the Asian community; 19 days in the Jewish community; 17 days in predominantly WASP communities; and 7 days in Hispanic communities. A dollar circulates for only 6 hours in the black community.
In other words, when a Black person earns a dollar, it is typically not spent with a Black-owned business. 99% of our $1.3 trillion buying power is spent outside of our community. Blacks spend less money in Black-owned businesses than other racial and ethnic groups spend in businesses owned by members outside of their groups. By changing nothing, nothing happens.

How Can You Be Apart?

Each month, our chapter, as a national and global initiative, will document our spending at our local Black-owned business. We will make it a priority to make sure we are supporting these businesses as much as possible. But we don't want to stop there! We want you to be a part! Below is a link to many Black-owned businesses in the New England area, organized by state and city/town. All you have to do is support! If there's a restaurant or business you loved and want to share with the world, Let us know! We'd love to give them a shout-out via social media! If you have a Black-owned business and you are not on this list, please let us know so we can add you to our document! Thank you in advance!
